Visit Danone Nutricia Research Center

On March 27th 2019, in partnership with Invest Utrecht, the members of the CCI France Pays-Bas had the opportunity to visit the Danone Nutricia Research Center. Looking back at an exciting afternoon where our members learnt more about Danone Nutricia’s aim to improve health through the power of food while considering environmental stakes.

Invest Utrecht is the Foreign Investment Agency of the Utrecht Region. It provides practical assistance and information services to help companies establish or maintain operations in Utrecht.
The Utrecht region is strong in services, marketing and sales. The most important sectors of the region are life sciences, health and ICT (such as gaming, e-commerce, e-health and cybersecurity). The Utrecht Science Park hosts a world class university, some renowned hospitals and many research institutions, such as the Danone Nutricia Research Center. Our members had the opportunity to visit this Center which opened in 2013 and currently employs over 600 people.

“One planet, One health” is Danone’s Vision. Florence Jeantet, Vice president Growth through Innovation at Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition presented Danone’s vision to the visitors.

Danone aims to inspire healthier and more sustainable eating and drinking practices, in line with the One Planet - One Health vision which reflects a strong belief that the health of people and the health of the planet are interconnected. Danone concentrates on high-growth and health-focused categories, and commits to operate in an efficient, sustainable and responsible manner. The operating activities are  divided in three business units which are: Water, Essential Dairy & Plant-based products and Specialized Nutrition (Early Life Nutrition and Advanced Medical Nutrition). 

Following the commitment on preserving natural resources, Nutricia recently opened a new manufacturing facility in Cuijk, the Netherlands. The new factory is a good example to bring Danone’s vision to reality, as it is powered by 100% renewable electricity and it is a zero-waste production site.

The Danone Nutricia Research Center, introduced by Eugenio Dielen, Site Director, is one of the two global Research Centers of Danone. Located in Utrecht, this Center is specialized in the life science research and product development activities for the Early Life Nutrition and Advanced Medical Nutrition businesses.
On the one hand, Early Life Nutrition provides nutritional products to meet parents’ needs and ensure that their children have a healthy start in life. On the other hand, the Advanced Medical Nutrition division is built on a patient-centred approach and believes in the power of nutrition to help the recovery of patients and supporting their health treatments.
