Thalys : Security measures taken on Board

The security, well-being and health of our travellers are at the center of our concerns.

The security, well-being and health of our travellers are at the center of our concerns. During this unprecedented crisis and before the gradual resumption of our activities, we have therefore decided to take strict sanitary and security measures. These apply on board of all our trains, on each trip and for all our destinations.

Our three engagements towards our clients and employees:
- a maximal security, by requiring that everyone wears a mask and respects the social distance rules.
- a greater hygiene by regularly cleaning our trains,
- the engagement of all our employees to accompany and protect you.

A MAXIMAL SECURITY

As of May 4, wearing a mask is mandatory for all travellers on the entire Thalys network. Clients who are not wearing a mask will be refused access to the train. We believe we can reinforce these measures by limiting the number of passengers we allow on our trains and by making sure that the seats are adequately assigned in each carriage.

A GREATER HYGIENE

Each time a train arrives at the station, thus multiple times a day, a complete and thorough cleaning is performed, with addition of a preventive disinfection.

The following surfaces are treated during the preventive disinfection:

  • Passenger areas: tables, doorknobs, hand grips, ventilation grids under the windows, drape bars, bin lids.
  • Bathroom: preventive disinfection of all surfaces (toilet, sinks, ventilation grids).
  • Platforms: mounting poles, doorknobs, push buttons, bin lids, service phones, glass surfaces.
  • Bar area: tables, push buttons, doorknobs, bin lids, ventilation grids under the windows.

THE ENGAGEMENT OF OUR EMPLOYEES TO ACCOMPANY AND PROTECT YOU

As of the very beginning of the corona crisis, we have raised awareness with our employees and educated them to follow the social distance rules. Since March, all our employees’ health is monitored.
