Conférence | Dutch Election - 1 year later

29 October 2026

On 29th October 2026, we had the pleasure of bringing together our members for the second edition of our conference “Dutch Elections: 1 Year On”, organised in partnership with Sanofi and FGS Global, one year after the elections that brought the Jetten cabinet to power.

We were delighted to welcome three distinguished speakers, bringing together extensive experience across Dutch politics, public administration, international affairs and the business community:

Ed Kronenburg, former Secretary-General of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador to France and China, Senior Adviser at FGS Global.

Focco Vijselaar, former Director-General of VNO-NCW and former Director-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Partner at FGS Global.

Menno Snel, former State Secretary of Finance, Senior IMF Executive Director and former CEO of NWB Bank, Partner at FGS Global.

One year after the elections, and eight months after the government was sworn in, the conference provided an opportunity to look beyond the political headlines and examine what has actually changed in the Netherlands. Our speakers shared their perspectives on the minority coalition's achievements so far, the challenges it faces and its ability to deliver on its ambitions.

From industrial policy and the implementation of the Wennink report to the Netherlands' position within Europe, international relations and the broader geopolitical context, the discussion addressed several issues that will shape the country's economic and business environment in the months and years ahead.

A central question throughout the discussion was what these political developments mean for the Dutch economy and the business community. The exchange was particularly lively, with strong engagement from our members. The many questions raised by the audience reflected the importance of understanding not only the direction of government policy, but also its practical implications for companies operating in the Netherlands.

The discussion offered different perspectives, challenged assumptions and provided valuable insights into the opportunities and uncertainties ahead.

The evening continued with a networking session, allowing members to exchange views, continue the conversations initiated during the conference and connect with fellow professionals from across the Franco-Dutch business community.

A special thank you to Sanofi for hosting this event. As a leading player in healthcare innovation, Sanofi's commitment to fostering dialogue and bringing business leaders together reflects the importance of creating spaces where innovation, economic developments and strategic perspectives can be discussed openly.

Many thanks to our speakers for sharing their expertise and insights, and to FGS Global and Sanofi for their partnership in making this conference possible.

And, of course, thank you to all our members for their active participation and thoughtful questions. These exchanges are at the heart of what we aim to foster at CCI France Pays-Bas: bringing together decision-makers, encouraging dialogue and helping businesses better understand the environment in which they operate.
