OVHcloud

In 1999, Octave Klaba was a student in France (at ICAM, in Lille) and founded OVH to meet the need for Internet hosting.

Today, we are the leading European cloud provider with a global presence. We have 500,000 servers in 46 datacenters in 10 countries around the world, not to mention 32 ‘local zones’, smaller cloud offerings that enable organisations to access basic cloud resources in their own region. Our company now has around 3,000 employees serving 1.6 million customers, and has just passed $1bn in revenue.

The Smart Datacenter project from OVHcloud uses a combination of AI, IoT smart sensors and pragmatic industrial innovation to set a new foundation for datacenter development. The Smart Datacenter is autonomous, allowing servers to control their own water and energy consumption, but also allowing the system overall control to respond to external conditions such as the need for noise reduction.

The Smart DC delivers a reduction in power consumption of up to 50% across the entire cooling loop and consumes 30% less water compared to OVHcloud’s earliest design, showing how datacenters can be innovative and sustainable, supporting today’s needs without compromising the world of tomorrow.
