Women's Day Lunch 2024

What an enriching and memorable ! It was indeed quite special as few can say “I have had the opportunity to listen to HRH Princess Laurentien’s speech AND enjoy a delicious meal in an historical place AND make nice connections AND get a nice present”.

For many years now, The Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam has been hosting our annual Women's Day Lunch. Its stunning beauty and rich history make it the perfect venue for this signature event of ours.

Did you know that The Grand has undergone several transformations? From a convent (1411) to a lodging house known as "Princen en Groote Heeren", to a City Hall, then as the residence of the country’s ruler, and finally, in 1992, it was transformed into the Sofitel Legend The Grand.

First gathered in the Cecilia Chamber, which overlooks the courtyard with its cherry trees already in bloom, guests had the opportunity to meet over coffee and sweet treats.

Then, in the council chamber, formerly the headquarters for Amsterdam's City Council and now listed as a historical monument, they gathered for the meal. Starting with a home-cured gin salmon, we then enjoyed a roasted Guinea Fowl breast accompanied by Mariel sauce and Madeira café au lait.

As a tradition for this event, we welcomed a distinguished speaker. And what an honor we had this year to welcome HRH Princess Laurentien!

Through her powerful speech, she touched every person present. Her words resonated within us all, reminding us to believe in our missions and not to be discouraged by the obstacles we encounter. As it is through resistance that we delve into the heart of our mission - with humility and trust.

Our heartfelt thanks go to HRH Princess Laurentien for sharing her convictions and insights, making this Women's Day Lunch especially memorable. We also extend our gratitude to the Sofitel Legend the Grand Amsterdam for its hospitality, as well as to the French Ambassador, Mr François Alabrune, Madame la Consule, Catherine Feuillet, and all our guests whose presence made the event truly special.
