Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam - Two-day festival Dark Moon

Dive deeper into the exhibition Dark Moon: Tales of the Afro-Turkish Diaspora by Ahmet Polat during our two-day festival on 10 and 11 June.

Through a series of fun and inspiring events, we will learn more about the Afro-Turkish diaspora and Turkey's plural heritage.

On 10 June, we will explore an evening of coffee readings through warm conversations around the collective practice of drinking and reading Turkish coffee. On 11 June, we will organise a performance, talk and collective walk to Galerie Mercatorplein.

Programme

During the coffee reading on 10 June, we will have warm conversations about the collective practice of drinking and reading Turkish coffee. The reading will take place in creative space MAQAM and will be guided by Ahmet Polat and three special guests from the Africans' Culture and Solidarity Society.

Join us on 10 June from 18.00 - 20.00 hrs at MAQAM in Amsterdam-West.

On 11 June, we will organise a series of fun and engaging activities on Mercatorplein in Amsterdam. Drawing inspiration from the Afro-Turkish Dana Bayram Festival (Calf Festival) revived and promoted by the Africans' Culture and Solidarity Society, this event will kick off with a collective walk from MAQAM to Mercatorplein and will follow up with an inspiring talk about the exhibition Dark Moon, followed by a concert inspired by the iconic Turkish singer Esmeray Diriker (1949-2002) by the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra.

Join us on 11 June from 14.00 - 16.00 hrs at Mercatorplein. The walk starts at 14.00 hrs from MAQAM in Amsterdam-West.
