Invitation Seminar: Building and protecting brands; how to deal with counterfeits on a global level?

Counterfeits are not a new phenomenon, but with technological advances and sophisticated new ways to reach consumers, the business is rapidly increasing. Global trade in counterfeit goods has increased by over 80 percent in a five-year period (OECD, April 2016).

Luxury brands and consumer brands are among the strongest in the world, their more valuable assets being their status, the quality of the product, materials / ingredients and the price. What is at the heart of their (continuous) success? How do brands make use of online marketing, while at the same time being confronted with counterfeit sellers setting up online sales channels?

This seminar provides insights in how to build and protect brands with a special emphasis on the (growing) issue of counterfeits. The role of brand owners, consumers, third party sellers, self-regulation, governments, legal measures and law enforcement agencies will be discussed.
