Cocktail Mazars - Brexit : Deal or no Deal ?!
Last week, we welcomed our members and the other Chambers of Commerce in the Netherlands in Mazars’ café, situated on the last floor of their building, which offered us an amazing view of Amsterdam by night.
On the agenda? A corporate cocktail sprinkled with some Brexit information.
What is the “recipe” for a successful event?
✅ First, an amazing place.
✅ Second, incredible guests.
✅ Last, but not least, one thrilling topic!
Eline Polak (Partner at Mazars specialized in VAT & Customs) came back on some key information about the European Union’s decisions around Brexit, such as the extension of the ratification of the withdrawal agreement until 31 January 2020.
Then, she provided a comprehensive picture of the current situation.
Despite the so-called agreement, a no-deal Brexit if basically foreseeable. Why? Because of the timetable! (time between the decision and when it will become effective). To be short, the “real” Brexit will not happen until 2023! Last, she also painted a picture of what could happen using Cheddar Cheese and Champagne as examples. With that information in mind, our guests continued to mingle around a nice glass of Champagne and a mixed of European tasteful canapés!
