Bolloré Logistics DRC South partnership with the castel group

Bolloré Logistics DRC South has recently partnered with The Castel Group, a French beverage company with a wide footprint in Africa and which trades locally in the DRC as Brasimba (Eastern & Southern DRC) and Bracongo (Western DRC).

The Castel Group was established in 1949 and is one of the leading producers of French wines in the world and a major player in Africa with its beers and soft drinks. Castel produces olive oil from Morocco and maintains sugar plantations in Africa.

To answer an urgent need of their subsidiaries in Ivory Coast and Malawi, Castel required the deployment of an end-to-end solution to transport 9 brewery tanks from Kolwezi in the Republic Democratic of Congo to Blantyre, Malawi and Abidjan. The solution needed to include the management of the entire logistics chain (road / sea transport) as well as all the necessary paperwork up to destination.

To this end, Bolloré Logistics successfully organised an exceptional transport operation that included the export customs clearance as well as a Bureau Veritas inspection requested by the consignee, cross border transport to Blantyre and Durban including the transit formalities, temporary warehousing in the facilities of Bolloré Logistics in Durban before shipping on multi-purpose vessels to Abidjan. In addition, Bolloré Logistics organized the application of the BSC certificates in South Africa, a document required by the customs services in Ivory Coast.

A solution was successfully implemented, resulting in Bolloré Logistics DRC becoming a key partner of Castel Group in both international and local transportation services. Recent operations in the last 6 months have also included 20 containers of malt from Antwerp to Lubumbashi through Walvis Bay, transport from Lubumbashi to Kinshasa through Angola, transport by air from Ndjamena to Lubumbashi including export formalities (Guinness concentrate in tanks), and the transportation of empty bottles from Ethiopia to DRC South.

Rodolph Kembukuswa, Managing Director of Bolloré Logistics DRC South said, “Partnering with The Castel Group fits in perfectly with our business model in Lubumbashi and allows us to scale our operation ever further.  It is a pleasure welcoming them to the Bolloré family.  We look forward to a long-standing business relationship with them.”
