Highlights of the event:
Divided into 2 parts with lots of interaction between the speakers and the audience, the format allowed for a very open, free and constructive discussion.

During the first session, we focused on four companies which have adopted a circular approach into their business model. Our guests speakers were:

  • Paul Kennedy from Danone
  • Eelco Smit from Philips International
  • Tom Hermans from Emma Safety Footwear
  • Joris Voeten from Permavoid

Each of them shared examples of applied Circular Economy behaviors. While the initial triggers for such behaviors were often external and financial constraints, such changes quickly fostered innovation and opened the door to a new approach to productivity and profitability. An approach that requires support from management and involvement of all of us along each step of the process.

During the second session, speakers from organisations that support the Circular Economy through finance, education or change management took the stage. For this part, we had the pleasure to listen to:

  • Frans Beckers from FBBASIC
  • Rene van Bremen from Polymer Science Park
  • Cees de Mol van Otterloo from Afvalfonds Verpakkingen
  • Joost van Dun from ING Sustainable Finance

They explained how sectors which were traditionally seen impose their rules and methods, were adjusting to embrace the specificities of a market where yesterday’s solutions cannot be sustained and expectations from companies, individuals and institutions are changing. With a real interest in developing partnership, across sectors and skillsets to allow Circular Economy initiatives to take shape.

We are looking forward to seeing you at one of our next events!
